Workman T734 Discone Scanner / Ham / General Coverage Antenna

Note: This is the same antenna as sold under brand names Jetstream JTD2, Tram, Workman T734, Opek, Midland, Alan and others.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

1. Make sure all the nuts are on EVERY threaded end of EVERY element. Move them to the fully threaded position.
2. Start with the short, single piece elements and screw them each in as far as you can around the chrome ring under the black insulator. This will create a flat DISC shaped, horizontal wheel.
3. Do the same with the diagonal elements. Screw them into the skirt surrounding the mast mount cup. Leave two holes, opposite each other on the skirt, to accept the black coiled assemblies to follow.
4. There are two long elements that are threaded on both ends. Attach the black coiled sections (the ones with the smaller adjustable whips) to these.
5. The two elements with the black coils and adjustable whip go in the holes that are opposite each other on that skirt, so when looking at the finished antenna, one is on the right and one is on the left. This will create a CONE "legged" component.
6. Install the stainless steel whip with the ball on top to the remaining whip that has the joiner section at the top. This will make a double length vertical whip.
7. Install this on top of the antenna.
8. Make sure all the elements are screwed as tight as you can get them in the main base section and the nuts on them are then tightened. The nuts prevent the elements from working loose from wind and weather vibrations. Also be sure all Allen screws are as tight as you can get them.
9. For final installation, run your coax up through your mounting mast. Connect it to the SO-239 inside the mounting cup of the antenna.
10. Place the cup over the mast and tighten the large Allen screws to secure.

You are good to go! The adjustable ends on the lower two elements generally don't need to be adjusted. But, if you find high SWR when transmitting, you can try adjusting them. However, I have found it really is not necessary as the antenna is broad-band by design.
